White Sofa Records was founded in early 2012. It started as an idea when Tanner Parks attended high school in Minnesota. He moved back to Cedar Rapids to pursue this idea with his friends. He recruited Grant Blades and Tyler Burkle to learn instruments to start the band, In the Attic. After two years of learning multiple instruments, song writing, producing, and engineering, they welcomed member Brennan Graeve and released their first record. In the spirit of playing music with friends, they always try to have other musicians and friends add their own flavor to songs. Now, White Sofa has many musical and visual artists. In the Attic is an alternative band from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with five core members; Tyler Burkle, Brennan Graeve, Piper McGee, Tanner Parks and Dylan Cutsforth. Tyler and Tanner have known each other for over a decade. They met Grant in high school where they formed In the Attic and started White Sofa Records. They have released two singles from their first record, The Same Different Sound, called “Brother” and “People.” They recorded their singles independently. After high school, Grant and Tyler attended Kirkwood Community College where Tyler met Brennan. Brennan introduced In the Attic to Sine Rife at Rife Recording Studio, where they started recording their new and old material. In the Attic released The Same Different Sound in December 2016. During the Summer of 2017, In the Attic stumbled upon violinist Piper McGee, shortly after she received her degree in music from Coe College. Grant departed from the band in 2018. Now, the group is working hard on their second record with Sine Rife. They released their first single, “Whiskey River,” from their upcoming record in late 2018. Kyler joined the band in 2019.

Aaron Loss is a singer/songwriter of sad music from the suburbs of Illinois and traveler of life, art, and the beauty of this crazy, crazy world. He is also the front man of Polaroid Pup, alongside members from In the Attic.

Tiny Bus Series

Tiny Bus Series is a video series created by Adam VanderVaart to showcase artists and musicians around Iowa. The series is filmed inside of Adam’s converted schoolie. With the help of local cinematographers and Rife Recording Studio, the video and audio are captured inside of Adam’s home.

Drunk Upon A Time

Drunk Upon A Time is a podcast hosted by Tanner Parks with Brennan Graeve, Zach Kehoe and Piper McGee. They discuss artists of all forms and the crazy lives they lead.

Steel Kaleidoscope

Steel Kaleidoscope is a trio of classical/folk musicians from Winona, MN. Heidi Hartmann, Hannah Nagel, and Piper McGee grew up together playing fiddle tunes by ear for nearly thirteen years. They are currently working on their premiere record, travelling many miles to meet up and write new tunes a few times per year.

Lauren Murphy is an illustrator from Cedar Rapids, IA offering hand-drawn ink and pencil artwork. 

Lauren has been drawing original pieces since childhood, and studied Drawing at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids for two semesters.

More recently, her specialty has been black & white tattoo design commissions, several of which have been brought to life by tattoo artists around the Midwest.

Visionary Projections

My name is Sheila Buschette, owner of Visionary Projection, and I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I’ve been very passionate about photography for some time, but even more so about the beauty of the world around us. I first started taking pictures when I was in middle school, and I’ve been in love ever since.

I took a course led by National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore a few years back, and it was all about capturing the world in a natural light, as it already is, instead of having to touch everything up with Photoshop. I strive to take photographs that are authentic and prime time – right there in the moment! That’s what my business is all about, actually; capturing your moments as real as they occur. That’s my passion, and that is the end goal.

Visionary Projection is a title that is all about, well, the title. Visionaries are people who take the abstract or the ordinary and make it something extremely extraordinary and out of this world; or in other words, to project keen ideas and visions on a massive scale. My business is all about capturing your precious moments, whether it be your passions, your milestones, your personal quirks and fetishes, and showcasing it in a beautiful and natural way so that others can see the beauty in these moments, too.
